Travel Safely – 3 Important Tips
When you travel, you want to be sure that you have a good time. This is whether you are traveling alone or with your family. The key to this is to make sure that you travel safely. These travel safety tips will make sure that you and your family have a great time on vacation.
Safety Tip #1: Protect your bags and your back!
First of all, make sure that you don’t bring more gear or luggage than you can safely carry. If you want to be miserable, just try going down cobblestone streets with a 750 pound suitcase. Sure you could hire someone carry it or take taxis for even short trips, but do you really want to do that? Many people traveling for the first time bring way to much luggage and end up hurting their backs, legs, and muscles. In addition, the more luggage you have the easier it is to get it stolen.
Safety Tip #2: Don’t Drink and Get in Trouble
Second, be smart if you are going to be doing any drinking. Make sure that you know how to get back to your hotel, make sure you know what time buses and trains stop running, and bring the hotel or hostel card with you just in case you can’t find your way back or get lost. Since you have the card, you can always call them or give the card to a taxi driver even if you don’t speak the language.
Safety Tip #3: Ask the locals for advice
Third, ask at your hotel, hostel, or look online to see if there are any areas in the cities you visit that you should avoid. Especially with concerns of terrorism, many Americans are scared to travel abroad, but they shouldn’t be because with a few precautions, it’s easy to be safe.
